Larry & James Journey to Success [Inspiring Story]

We all make decision in life, and each decision we make affect us either positively or negatively. The smartest thing we ought to do is to make decision that contributes positively to our life. The decision you take today will bounce on you in future, so it is always advisable to go into careful planning and deep thought before arriving at a final decision. In this post I am going to reveal to you what matter most in your life and also differentiate between positive decisions from negative decisions.

As a literally icon and a creative writer I am going to write a fiction story to analyze my point of view. Jesus Christ knows the value of fiction story that is why he uses parable to illustrate his stories for easy comprehension. So in this post I am going to evaluate and analyze my point with a fiction story for easy comprehension and after reading through this post I urge you all to contribute your opinion on the comment box, let us join hands together and heal the world.

After reading through this post you will tell me the decision you think is positive and the one you think is negative among the two peers highlighted in the post. Let’s do it together so that others who are ignorant of the truth can learn from their mistake and correct it because time waits for no one to make adjustment and change his or her negative decisions. Many people call me literary icon because I use imaginative stories to analyze societal issues and today post will not be left behind.

Larry was the only son in his family from a poor local background while his best friend James was also from a poor family too, they both had they secondary Education in the same school, after they secondary education, Larry refuse to go further knowing fully well of the high rate of unemployment in the country and decided to nurture his talent and become self employed, but his parents were against it and refuse saying their can’t allow that to happen, stating that they want him to graduate and become an accountant in the bank.

James his best friend advised him to further his education; he encouraged him to listen to his parent and further his tertiary Education, with the mindset that after graduation he will get a good job and change his life and that of his family. But Larry was stubborn with his decision, he pleaded with his family to understand him but none of them saw reason with him. So he started thinking on what to do.

Two weeks later James entered the University to Study Law while Larry was still roaming around the street and attending local shows and clubs. He was doing that until one day he called his parents and asks them to lend him #500,000 to record his first album, his parents refused saying that they can’t waste they hard earn money on a twisted talent and urge him to go and write jamb and enter the university but he refused. Their discussion ended in argument and he left the house and went to a corner and started crying because Music was his talent and he really wants to explore it, he love the art and really want to develop in it but no assistant.

After the first semester in the university James visited his best friend Larry and still convince him to come and join him in university to further his education, he told him that school is good, but is not a guarantee for success, he further told him that success is what you make out from yourself, your financial intelligence makes you successful and not academic certificate, when Larry could not convince him he left him.

Larry went the second time and pleaded with his parents to sell the only land left for the family so that he can use it to record his first studio album, since he has no money and has nowhere to borrow the money from. Because he knew that to get money from neighbor is very difficult since nobody is ready to help him out.

He went to his rich uncle and pleaded with him to lend him money to record his song, his uncle told him that some of this artiste are wayward, arrogant and irresponsible and advised him to follow his parent decision and go to school, that he can only give him money to further his education but he cannot give him money to record some sort of crappy music.

After pleading with his uncle and found no success he left him and went to see his Aunt and pleaded with her to lend him money that he has talent in music as a sensational singer and really wants to expose his talent to the world, his Aunt refused and told him to go and register for Jamb, but he said he can’t do that, explaining to his Aunt that school can wait for now until he actualize his dream, challenging her, that how many graduates are financially successful and living happily, most graduates unemployed, street hawkers, gatemen, keke napep drivers, lorry drivers, danfo drivers and carpenters. He told his Aunt that he has sought help from his Parents and Uncle but none of them are willing to help him, he told her that he has talent in music and his problem is money, he needed money desperately to start from somewhere, but his Aunt refuses stating that she can’t give him money for music unless he is ready to go to school.

Few weeks later he went home and started thinking on what to do, finally he concluded that he now have a plan and let’s see if the plan will work out for him. He went to his Parents and told them that he has agreed to go to school, his parents where really happy and decided to sell the only land left for them just to send him to school, their sold the land at the rate of one million naira and kept it in the bank that anytime he needs money for his academic needs, their will withdraw it and sent to him.

Larry went and told his friend James that he will be joining him in the university but he won’t attend the same university with him. He decided to change school because he doesn’t want James to spoil his plan or put sand in his garri. Two days later Larry told his parent to give him #5000 to go and apply for Jamb which their gave to him, he pretended that he has written the Exam, few days later he went to a web designer in a business center and told them to designed and draft a jamb result slip for him, e]which they did. He waited till when their announced that jamb result is out and he ran to his parent with the result slip jubilating that he has passed jamb exam and had been admitted to the University of Lagos to Study Business Management.

His parent were really happy for him, they withdraw everything in the account and gave to him; he went to the bank and saved the money in his own bank account. Few days later he took his bag and luggage’s and said farewell to his family, that he is on his way to school, his parents were really proud of him and showered prayers of blessing on him unknowingly to them that he just playing pranks with them, he was just taking advantage of their ignorant to achieve his dreams by force.

Larry was a dedicated, determined and focus young man who believes on his dreams, vision, ambitions and goal in life. He went to Lagos and rented a small room apartment. He was new in town and had no friends to mingle with or relate with. So he went and records his first song in a studio in Surulere, Lagos with #30,000. Just like an adage which says that good food attracts customers, Larry was a sensational singer who always attributes his life experience and predicaments to his song, couple with his angelic, melancholic and romantic voice.

It was really amazing that he could record a song in Lagos with just #30,000 while there are other artists who record their songs with #150,000 yet they song has no rich content. But Larry case was different his song was superb, the beat was great. The producer was talented and gave him his best. He called his parents often to know how they are doing; he always send them copies of fake school fees receipts and fake result just to convince he was really doing what their want. He pretended to them that he was really schooling whereas he was building his music career in Lagos.

To cut the story short. After 3years of hustling and hard work in Lagos, Larry was able to record 15 tracks and later made his first debut album. The album was really a success; it was launched in Eko Hotel and Suite Victoria Island Lagos and many dignitaries where present in the occasion. He took out his time to network and makes friends especially friends from the rich class of the society. Larry did something very great in the lunching, he did a live performance in which he played a live instrument coupled with his angelic voice, his sensational and astonishing voice stole the crowd and got the crowd screaming for him at the top of their voice. He went with his stage name “Larry T” and decided not to choose any extra stage name other than his real name Larry with the T which stand for his local name “Tobechukwu” (praise God) Because he wants his parents and all those who neglected him before to know him by his real name.

Larry automatically became a celebrity, a household name and was signed into an international Music Label, he did his first Video which was shot in Malaysia with top music artiste around the globe, the video was directed by a Nigerian famous musical director, it was really interesting, the video was shot in Malaysia and the camera contain beautiful picture quality, marvelous locations, beautiful models and great artistic performance. The video was rated no.1 at MTV international top 10 charts. The video also won him a Grammy award as the best picture in Africa

Larry was later invited by Heineken groups of company in United States to perform at the launching of their new product. His travelling expenses were taken care of and he was launched in a five star hotel in New York City, United States. After the beautiful performance Larry got more fans in the United States, Heineken paid him $350,000 and he was automatically endorsed as a brand new ambassador of the brand.

Larry went home as a fulfilled young man, at the age of 23 years he has achieved his dreams, his aspiration and is now living a lifestyle of riches. He sat down in his $2 million Luxurious Mansion in Banana Island Ikoyi, Lagos which he acquired for himself after performing in United Kingdom where he was invited by the Queen of Britain as a guest artiste to perform on her birthday. Larry automatically became a role model and many young talented male and female where aspiring to be like him.

Note, as all this success was going on Larry never told his parents and family anything about his music career and how he has risen to fame, he just went silent and after four years he decided to pay them a surprise visit and reveal the secret which he has hidden from his family for four years and also ask for them for their forgiveness.

Larry, on his way back to his home town, bought a new Range Rover Sport car 2016 Model and wrote “Larry T” at the front of the Car. When he got home, he found out that his parents and siblings are wandering in abject poverty and hunger, unable to go to school because of no money. Inflation took over the country and foodstuff price increased, unemployment rise to the highest level, every product in the market increase to x3, people were complaining but nobody was to be blamed. It was a punishment that the poor masses had to suffer. Ironically it was in this period that Larry came back home and was filled with tears at the sight of his home.

Larry was the only hope to rescue his family from poverty. He knew the kind of love his parents had for his to the extent os sacrificing the only land left for them to send him to school, but there were ignorant of reality. When Larry drove in with his newly acquired range Rover Sport Car, his Mother saw him but could not recognized him because he look more handsome, putting on expensive clothes, jewelries and earrings. His hair where curly and he looks like a foreigner who just arrive and is lost.

His mother came forward and said; “Nna welcome oh, please are you looking for somebody? Larry was silent and his eyes were filled with tears, looking at her Mother dressed in tattered clothes, his father building was too old and they was lines drawn which is a sign that the house might fall down anytime.

Larry who couldn’t control his emotions screamed loud; Mummy!!! Is me your son Larry, please forgive me mother for I have sin, I have done terrible thing that is beyond forgiveness. I have wrong you and Dad and my siblings please mother forgive me. He rushes and embraced her very warmly, his Mother in tears could not believe her eyes. His mother was astonished, shock and surprise. She cautions him to stop crying and come inside. When his father and siblings saw him in the evening there were surprised.

Larry sat all of them down and narrated everything that happened and how he deceived them into going to school whereas he went to pursue his music career. And today he is now a success in the music industry, a brand new ambassador of a foreign international firm. He told them he is now a superstar, he told them about his visit to England and how he sat one on one with the queen of England and also his visit to the white house where he sat one on one with the President of the United States.

His father knelt down and gave praises and thanks to God almighty for bringing his son back safely and for given him the wisdom to follow his dreams, overcoming every obstacle and rejection he faced. Larry Father, Mr. Maxwell learnt the highest lesson of his life to allow his Children to choose whatever career their want in life.

Larry took broke down the old house and built a mansion in his home, he also bought car for his father and mother and decided to take his whole family on a wonderful vacation to a beautiful Island in New York, United States and lavishes them with money and gifts. It was an unforgettable experience for Mr. and Mrs. Maxwell. Larry later sent his two siblings to Oxford University to study and his youngest sister he sent her to the most expensive college in the Nigeria, British International High School in Lekki the because he wants her to stay around and take care of the parents while he continue his global business of entertaining the world and building more fans.

He enroll for a three years degree course in United States and at the age of 27 years old, Larry to earn himself a degree Economics, from the University of California, United States. and later completed a one year international program on Entrepreneurship and graduate from university of California, USA. This proved that he was indeed brave and an intelligent young Man. He became a hot cake for female fans all over the world, his popularity was unquestionable, but the question is who will he marry?

International Models and Exclusive Ladies admired him and did everything possible to win his heart but to no avail. Larry decided to choose his old school best friend, Deborah, an Ordinary Diploma holder who live with his poor parents in Onitsha. Larry recalled how she has stood by him in times of difficulties, encouraged him to follow his dreams and never allow anybody to discourage him.

Larry described Deborah as a true African Girl, and during an interview with BBC, he said it was Deborah who inspired him to become an Artiste, after singing for her and noticing the power in his voice Deborah encouraged him to go into sing and prays and hope he will be successful in it. They both got married and the wedding was attended by dignitaries all over the world, top Celebrities, Models, Business Executives, Politicians and VIP’s were in attendance.

Larry finally fulfilled his dreams because he never gave up, he stood by his guns, he was dedicated, he had a clear vision, he dreamed big, he planned for his future, he was hungry to achieve success, he was hardworking, he was faithful to God and finally he was patient. If you follow this attributes mentioned below in your life I promise you, your story will be like that of Larry if you believe.

His best Friend James who left NYSC and after graduating from law school became unemployed and was finally called to bar, but no case to adjudicate. Corruption took over the country and there were high rate of discrimination. He could not find job anywhere and had no money to run his chamber, so to survive he decided to be a classroom teacher just to put food in his mouth.

Two days later he went and submitted an application to Federal High court in Abuja for job and after series of interview their told him we have your number we will call you when we need you. James waited for the call in one month but they were no call, he continues searching for job but could not find any.

He later decided to look for job in any discipline, he went to Telecom, Oil and gas, banks, Construction company, hotels, media houses etc. but they was no vacancy. He finally resolved to be a full time teacher, throwing away his pride and shame.

He search for job for three solid years after graduation from law school but could not find any. All he only hear is; “we have your contact we will call you” but till now he has not heard from any of them. One day he sat down with his University LLB Certificate and started looking at it, he wanted to burn it out of frustration and annoyance but his spirit cautioned him not to.

After searching for Job for four years no improvement, he decided to try a secondary school not quite far from his house and he got a teaching job. He was employed as English Language and Literature Teacher for a #25,000 monthly salary. James had no choice but to take the offer.
