Lee Min Ho is a South Korean actor and singer. He first gained widespread fame in Korea and parts of Asia with his role as Gu Jun-pyo in Boys Over Flowers in 2009. The role won him a Best New Actor Award at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards. He is noted for his leading roles in City Hunter, The Heirs, Faith and The Legend of the Blue Sea. The success of Lee Min Ho television drama throughout Asia established him as a top Hallyu star.
He was born on 22nd June 1987 in Heukseok-dong, Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea. He is currently 30 years old. As a child he hoped to become a professional football player. He was selected for the youth football class of South Korean manager and former professional player Cha Bum-Kun, but an injury in the 5th grade of elementary school put an end to this aspiration. In his second year of high school, Lee Min Ho turned to acting.
After his elementary and high school, Lee Min Ho got admitted into Konkuk University and graduated after four years with a Bachelor’s Degree in Film and Art from Konkuk University in South Korea. In 2003 Lee Min Ho joined South Korean movie industry and auditioned for his first role in Nonstop 5 and Recipe of Love, a EBS series drama shown on television. After that he auditioned and acted in Secret Campus where he got his major break.
In 2009 Lee Min Ho rose to fame after starring as a lead character in the blockbuster movie “Boys Over Flowers” the movie won him a Best New Actor Award at the 45th Baeksang Arts Awards in South Korea.
He has acted in more 50 South Korea movies which includes Boys Over Flowers, Faith, City Hunter, Secret Campus, Recipe of Love, Gangnam Blues, Nonstop 5, The Legend of the Blue Sea, The Heirs and Bounty Hunters, a movie he produced by himself.
Lee Min Ho has an older sister named Lee Yong-jung, who is the CEO of his current agency MYM Entertainment. In March 2015, Lee Min Ho and South Korean singer Bae Suzy were confirmed to be in a relationship.
In October 2014 Lee Min Ho released his first music album “A Song For You” under Universal Music. Later on he stated in an interview that the tracks were recorded for his fans and that he had no ambition to pursue a singing career.
In 2014, Lee Lee Min Ho was invited to the third conference of the South Korean Presidential Committee for Cultural Enrichment as the representative for the entertainment industry, to share and contribute to the discussion of issues related to developing Korea’s cultural content.
In 2014, Lee Min Ho received the “Prime Minister Award” at the 5th Korean Popular Culture & Arts Award for his contribution to Hallyu. On 12th May 2017, Lee Min Ho began his mandatory military service at Gangnam District Office as a public service officer but he was unable to serve as an active duty soldier due to a car accident that took place 11 years ago in August 2006 with fellow actor Jung II-woo, which caused him to be bedridden for months as he had suffered serious leg injuries. However, in 2011 Lee Min Ho also suffered another car accident in South Korea while filming City Hunter. Lee Min Ho has won countless number of awards in South Korea for his contribution in the entertainment industry in Asia and rest of the world.
Lee Min Ho is currently one of the richest and most influential actor in South Korea with an estimated net worth of $10 million.
