Dwayne Michael Carter Jr. popularly known by his stage name as Lil Wayne is a famous American hip hop rapper, singer, songwriter, record executive, entrepreneur, recording artiste, actor, investor and a television personality. He is widely considered as the king of tattoo, due to the fact that all his body is covered with tattoo.

He was born on 27^th September 1982 in New Orleans, Louisiana in the United States of America. He is currently 35 years old. He is very gifted, skillful and talented. He grew up in an impoverished Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, Louisiana in the United States of America. His mother, a cook, gave birth to him when she was 19 years old. His parents divorced when he was just 2 years old and his father permanently abandoned the family.

Although Lil Wayne and Birdman have father and son relationship and Birdman calls Lil Wayne his son, while Lil Wayne call him my father, naturally Birdman is not the biological father of Lil Wayne but his foster father. Lil Wayne biological father is still alive and his name Dwayne Carter Sr. Lil Wayne has also spoken about his deceased stepfather, Reginald McDonald, whom he considers as his real father. Lil Wayne has a tattoo dedicated to Rabbit, who was murdered before Lil Wayne became a star.

Lil Wayne attended Lafayette Elementary School for his basic education and later attended Eleanor McMain Secondary School. He attended Eleanor McMain Secondary School in the early 1990s for two years. After which, he moved to the Marion Abramson Senior High School.

In 1991, at the age of 9 years old, Lil Wayne joined Cash Money Records as the youngest member of the record label. In 2004, Lil Wayne got married to Antonia Wright and divorced her in 2006. Lil Wayne currently has four children namely Regina Carter, Neal Carter, Cameron Carter and Dwayne Carter.

When ask during an interview why he is going with the stage name Wayne. He stated that the name is generated from his real name Dwayne, but he decided to remove to D and stick with Wayne because he doesn’t want to answer his father’ name after abandoning him for many years.

After completing his high school education, Lil Wayne proceeded to University of Houston in the United States of America in 2005 and later quit his studies in 2005 after spending few months in the university.

Lil Wayne is currently signed to Young Money, Cash Money and Republic. He is among the richest and most influential celebrities in the United States of America.

In 1996, Lil Wayne joined the southern hip hop group “Hot Boys” with his Cash Money label-mates Juvenile, Young Turk and Lil Doogie (who now goes by the name B.G.).

The group “Hot Boys” released their first debuted album “Get It How U Live!” that same year in 1996. Most of the group’s success came with their platinum-selling album “Guerrilla Warfare” in 1999 and their hit single “Bling Blng” in 1999.

Lil Wayne apart from being the star artist of Cash Money Records is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of his own label imprint “Young Money Entertainment” a record label which he founded in 2005.

Lil Wayne reached higher popularity with his fourth studio album “Tha Carter” in 2004, which was led by his hit single “Go D.J”. He also made an appearance on Destiny’s Child Top 10 single “Soldier” in 2004. The album was followed by his fifth studio album “Tha Carter II” which was released in 2005 and which has several mixtapes and collaborations throughout 2006 and 2007.

Lil Wayne gained more prominence with his sixth album “Tha Carter III” which was released in 2008 and which became his most successful album till date, with first-week sales of over one million copies in the United States of America. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Rap Album and includes the hit singles like “Lollipop, A Milli and Got Money”.

Following the success of his sixth album “Tha Carter III” Lil Wayne decided to record a rock-esque album titled “Rebirth”. The album was released in 2010 and was certified gold by the RIAA, despite a generally negative critical response. In March 2010, Lil Wayne began serving an 8 months jail sentence term in New York, United States of Africa after being convicted of criminal possession of a weapon stemming from an incident in July 2007.

Lil Wayne’s eighth album “I Am Not a Human Being” was released in 2010. It was released during his incarceration. His ninth studio album “Tha Carter IV” was released in 2011 and sold 964,000 copies in its first week of availability in the United States of America. It includes hit singles like “6 Foot 7 Foot, How to Love, and She Will”.

On 27^th September 2012, Lil Wayne passed Elvis Presley as the male with the most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with over 109 songs. However, the record has since been passed by other artists.

Lil Wayne’s twelfth studio album “Tha Carter V” has been delayed multiple times and has no scheduled release date. Lil Wayne has sold over 100 million records worldwide, including more than 15 million albums and 37 million digital tracks in United States of America, making him one of the best-selling artists of all time.

Lil Wayne is currently one of the richest and most influential rapper in the United States of America with an estimated net worth of $150 million.
