Linda Ikeji Biography and Net Worth

Linda Ikeji is a famous Nigerian blogger, writer, social media personality, model, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. She was born on 19th September 1980 in Lagos in the south western part of Nigeria. She is currently 37 years old. She is originally from Nkwerre, a small village in Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria.

She was born and raised in a Christian family. She is the second child in the family. She began writing at the age of 10 years old. Linda Ikeji completed her primary and secondary school education in Lagos, Nigeria and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate at the age of 17 years old.

At the age of 18 years old, Linda Ikeji got admitted to University of Lagos in Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language at the age of 22 years old in 2004. To assist her family and support herself through school, she had part-time jobs as a waitress, model and writer. She began her career as a fashion and photography model at the age of 18 years old while still in the University.

After graduating from the university, Linda Ikeji started out as a struggling entrepreneur. She failed in many businesses and was even locked up in a police station when she couldn’t pay her debt.

In 2006, Linda Ikeji established www.lindaikejisblog.com and started blogging as a hobby. At that time, the internet was not as prominent in Nigeria as it was today, so she had to make her posts at a cybercafé.

In 2010, Linda Ikeji rose to fame after her blog became very popular and started raking millions in her bank account. She is currently the highest paid blogger in Nigeria and best known for her blog worldwide.

Her blog is based on gossip and has attracted a lot of controversy between her and Nigerian celebrities. In 2015, Linda Ikeji bought a mansion in Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria worth eight hundred million naira.

Linda Ikeji runs a non-profit project themed “I would rather be self made; No thanks”. In an interview with Hip TV, Linda Ikeji revealed that through the project, she has assisted young girls of aged around 16–25 years old who have great business ideas and are willing to venture into entrepreneurship. According to her, she gave out the sum of ten million naira in the Phase 1 of the project. In August 2012, Forbes Africa listed her as one of the 20 Most Prominent Women in Africa.

In 2014, Linda Ikeji became the biggest Google Search celebrity in Nigeria. That year the name Linda Ikeji was the most searched item by users of Google in Nigeria. Her blog rank highest in Nigeria and attracted a lot of adverts from multinational firms in Nigeria. On 25th September 2012, Linda Ikeji was interviewed by BBC on their focus on Africa programme.

Linda Ikeji has dealt with lots of controversial posts about Nigerian celebrities such as Wizkid, RMD, Genevieve Nnaji, Tonto Dikeh, Funke Akindele, Banky W, Ramsey Nouh, Jim Iyke and hosts of other top celebrities in Nigeria who described her publications as defamatory and malicious.

On 8th October 2014, Linda Ikeji blog was shut down by Google, but was later restored back on 10th October 2014 around midnight by Google for undisclosed reasons. In 2013, Linda Ikeji won the award for Best Entertainment Blog at the Nigeria Blog Awards.

Linda Ikeji is currently the richest and most influential blogger in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $5 million.
