Monalisa Chinda is a popular Nollywood actress, model, film producer, television personality and a philanthropist. She was born on 13th September 1974 in Nkwere, Port Harcourt, Rivers State in the south southern part of Nigeria to Igbo parents. She is currently 45 years old. She is the first born child in the family of two sons and four daughters. She attended Army Children’s School GRA, Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate.

After which she proceeded to Archdeacon Crowder Memorial Girl’s High School Elelenwo in Port Harcourt, River State, Nigeria and obtained her West African Senior School Certificate. After her primary and secondary education, she obtained a degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Port Harcourt in River State, Nigeria. In 1996, Monalisa Chinda joined the Nigeria movie industry [Nollywood] and acted in her first movie “Pregnant Virgin”.

The success of the movie gave her an advantage and attracted her to movie producers. After her graduation from the university in 2000, Monalisa Chinda did another movie “Above the Law”. In 2007, Monalisa Chinda rose to fame after starring in the popular television soap opera “Heaven’s Gate”. She has acted in more than 150 Nollywood movies which include Pregnant Virgin, Royal Grandmother, Kiss and Tell, Critical Truth, etc.

In 2012, Monalisa Chinda became one of the first of four Nollywood celebrities to be featured on the cover of Hollywood Weekly Magazine. In November 2014, she established a television media program and talk show titled “You and I with Monalisa”

In 2009, she won the Best Actress Award at the Afro Hollywood Awards during the Monte Carlo Television Festival. In 2010, Monalisa Chinda was nominated for the Best Actress in a drama series at the Terracotta TV and Film Awards. In 2011, Monalisa Chinda was crowned the Face of Port Harcourt-Carnival Queen, in her hometown of Rivers State, Nigeria.

She is involved in a lot of charity work. She has a column in the Saturday edition of The Sun Newspapers where she writes on social issues and relationships. She is a consultant with Royal Arts Academy, a media school known for training new talents in acting, writing, directing and movie production. In 2009, Monalisa Chinda got married to her long time boyfriend Dejo Richards, the marriage is blessed with a beautiful kid named Tamar Chinda. Later she had misunderstanding with her husband, Dejo Richards and both divorced and went separate ways. After the annulment of her first marriage, Monalisa Chinda later got married to Victor Tonye Coker, whom she is still with till date.
