Ngozi Nwosu is a famous Nollywood actress, movie producer and a filmmaker. She began her acting career in Yoruba-language movies, before making her home-video debut in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Living in Bondage” an Igbo-language film considered to be the movie that brought Nollywood to Limelight.
She was born on 1st August 1963 in Lagos, Nigeria. She is currently 55 years old. She is very gifted, skillful, creative and talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles. She knows how to interpret her roles very well and can fit in any character given to her by movie directors and producers in Nigeria.
Ngozi Nwosu is a native of Arochukwu in Abia State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. She grew up in Lagos, Nigeria. Her father, a Biafran veteran soldier was killed during the Nigeria Civil War in 1968. Ngozi Nwosu is fluent in Igbo, Yoruba and English languages.
She completed her primary school education at St. Paul Anglican School in Idi Oro, Lagos State, Nigeria and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate. After completing her primary school education, she proceeded to Maryland Comprehensive High School in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria and completed her secondary school education at East Rosary High School in Ikeja, Lagos State, Nigeria and obtained her West African Senior School Certificate.
Her professional acting training under the leadership of Reverend Fabian Oko was done at Royal Theatre Art Club School in Lagos, Nigeria. In 2012, she took ill, which affected her career. The diagnosis was later reported to be related to a kidney disease. She eventually got treatment abroad through the help of government and some Non Governmental Organizations (NGO).
She began her acting career while attending acting classes in school, most of which were done in Yoruba. She played the role of “Madam V Boot” in the television series “Ripples”. While on the set of the movie “Living in Bondage” Ngozi Nwosu was attributed as the first Nollywood actress to kiss on a movie set during her romantic session with Kenneth Okonkwo.
She is also known for playing the role of Peace in the sitcom movie “Fuji House of Commotion” a movie produced by late Amaka Igwe. In the movie she played the role of Peace, who was the third wife of Chief Fuji. In 2018, Ngozi Nwosu played the role of Ene in the Nigerian animation film “Sade”.
Her character in the movie “Sade” depicts a woman who didn’t utilize what she has until she lost it. According to her, everyone can identify with the film because of its comedic tone. Aside from acting, Ngozi Nwosu is also a movie producer. She was the producer of Evil Passion, Stainless and the radio show, Onga.
Speaking on female sexual harassment in the industry, Ngozi Nwosu explained that it could be fine when producers make sexual advances towards an actress, but she considers it more demeaning when the actress seduces the producer. She also stated that every actress has the right to say no to anything that is not comfortable for them.
Ngozi Nwosu has made cameo appearance in music videos of Nigerian musicians like Chidinma Ekile, Flavour, Phyno and Fair Prince. Ngozi Nwosu has acted in over 200 Nollywood movies which include Skinny Girl in Transit, Living in Bondage, Ripples, Fuji House of Commotion, Evil Passion, Stainless, Sade, etc.
Ngozi Nwosu is currently one of the richest and most influential actress in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $550,000.
