Onika Tanya Maraj popularly known as Nicki Minaj is a famous American hip hop rapper, singer, songwriter, stage performer, model, actress and a philanthropist. She was born on 8^th December 1982 in Saint James, Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago and was raised in Queens, New York in the United States of America. She is currently 34 years old.

Her father’s name is Robert Maraj while her mother’s name is Carol Maraj. Her father was a severe drug addict with a long history of violence to the extent of burning down their house in December 1987. Nicki Minaj has two siblings.

After her primary school education, Nicki Minaj got admitted to LaGuardia High School in Manhattan which focuses on visual and performing arts. After graduation from high school, Nicki Minaj wanted to become an actress and was cast in the Off-Broadway play “In Case You Forget” in 2001.

At the age of 19 years old, Nicki Minaj struggled with her acting career. She worked as a waitress at Red Lobster in the Bronx, but was fired for discourtesy to customers. According to her, she has been fired from at least fifteen jobs for similar reasons. She has also worked as an administrative staff for a company.

Nicki Minaj gained public recognition after releasing three mixtapes in 2007 and was subsequently signed to Young Money Entertainment in 2009. In 2010, Nicki Minaj released her first studio album “Pink Friday”.

In 2010, Minaj became the first female solo artist to have seven singles simultaneously charting on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. In November 2012, Nicki Minaj launched her first studio album “Pink Friday” with top dignitaries and entertainers in attendants.

In 2012, Nicki Minaj released her second studio album “Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded” the album had hit singles like “Super Bass” and “Starships” which peaked at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200. In 2014, Nicki Minaj released her third studio album “The Pinkprint” with hit single like “Anaconda” which peaked at number two on the Hot 100 and is her highest-charting single in the United States of America till date.

Nicki Minaj made her first film debut in the 2012 animated film “Ice Age: Continental Drift”. In 2014 and 2016 Nicki Minaj got supporting roles in the movies “The Other Woman” and “Barbershop: The Next Cut”. In 2013 Nicki Minaj was a judge on the twelfth season of American Idol.

Nicki Minaj has won many Grammy awards which include MTV Video Music Award for Best Hip-Hop Video. Nicki Minaj was the first female artist included on MTV’s Annual Hottest MC List. Nicki Minaj has been named as the most influential female rapper of all time by New York Times.

Early in her career, Nicki Minaj was known for her colorful costumes and wigs. She has the most Billboard Hot 100 entries for a female artist in the chart’s history, while being ninth overall. Nicki Minaj has received ten Grammy nominations throughout her career and has won six American Music Awards, eleven BET Awards, three MTV Video Music Awards, four Billboard Music Awards, a recipient of Billboard’s Women Music Awards and 2011 Rising Star Award.

Nicki Minaj has an endorsement deal with Adidas, MAC Cosmetics and Pepsi worth millions of dollars. She is the best-selling female rapper of all time, having sold 20 million singles as a lead artist, 60 million singles as a featured artist, and over five million albums worldwide.

Nicki Minaj is currently one of the richest and most influential hip hop artiste and rapper in the United States of America with an estimated net worth of $75 million.
