Nigeria Beat Iceland 2-0 in 2018 FIFA World Cup

Iceland was brutally defeated by the Super Eagles of Nigeria with 2 goals to nil in the 2018 FIFA World Cup on Friday 22nd June 2018. The two goals were scored by Ahmed Musa in the second half of the match. The Super Eagles of Nigeria retaliated in the humiliation melted on them by Croatia in the last game.

However, in the last concluded match, Croatia been a tiger in the 2018 FIFA World Cup trashed and humiliated Argentina 3-0 in their last game. This defeat against Argentina paved way for Nigeria to meet Argentina in the next game and battle out for who will stay and who will leave the group D stage in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. However, Lionel Messi has been in a sad mood after the brutal defeat melted on them by Croatia in their last game.

In reaction to the victory of the Super Eagles of Nigeria against Iceland, the Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr has revealed why his side beat Iceland 2-0 on Friday in their second Group D clash in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

In the game Leicester City forward striker and Nigeria superstar Ahmed Musa scored two goals for the Super Eagles in the second half of the game to become the first Nigerian player to have scored more than two goals in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. He now has a total of four goals in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

During an interview, Super Eagles head coach, Gernot Rohr stated that his players understood that they had to fight to get the three points after half time. The German tactician also stated that three of his players did very well to stop the Iceland team from using set pieces to score.

According to his words; “They understood that we had to fight; we played well in the second half. Iceland is a very good team, very strong, very organized, we know it. I think in the second half we deserved the victory. We worked very much on it since the last game against Croatia, which I was satisfied with our organization but we have a problem with set-piece.

Today Omeruo came in who is very strong in the air; we had our three central defenders so it was much better today. We had Victor Moses who had more impact on the right side, and in the second half Ebuehi brought in his speed.” Gernot Rohr told reporters in post-match.

However, many dignitaries and ex internationals have reacted to the brutal defeat melted on Iceland by the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Some of the ex internationals who reacted towards the game include Didier Drogba, Sunday Oliseh, Babayaro, Samson Siasia, Jay-Jay Okocha, Kanu Nwankwo, Daniel Amokachi, amongst others.
