Nigeria Ex-Senate President Pius Anyim Says Governor Umahi Is Plotting To Kill Him

The former Senate President of Nigeria Pius Anyim has accused the current Governor of Ebonyi State David Umahi saying he is plotting to kill him. It appears the defection of Governor David Umahi from PDP to APC has caused a disagreement between the Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi and Nigerian former Senate President Pius Anyim.

Pius Anyim wants security operatives to protect him from Governor Umahi alleged threats. The former Senate president, Pius Anyim has alleged that his life is now in danger over his refusal to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Nation Newspaper, Pius Anyim in an open letter on Monday, November 30, 2020 accused Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state of plotting to kill him. He notified the public, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, and the Department of State Services (DSS) over the alleged threat to his life by the Governor of Ebonyi state, David Umahi.

The former Senate president said David Umahi is seeking vengeance against him because he turned down the governor’s pleas to join him (Umahi) in the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Pius Anyim Pius claimed the governor came to his house in the company of some high-profile people on November 20, 2020 to persuade him to become a member of the ruling party All progressive Congress (APC).

According to his words;

“I pointed out to him that his approach has made it almost impossible for anybody to defect. He pleaded with me that if I cannot defect now, I should not attend any PDP meetings, and I said no, I must attend PDP meetings as long as I am in PDP.”

The politician claimed the governor has declared war on everyone who has refused to defect with him. Premium Times also reported that Pius Anyim Pius dismissed David Umahi claim that he agreed to defect with him to the APC but later refused. The former Senate president described the governor as a delusional politician who is consumed by his own greed and inordinate ambition.

The Nation Newspaper reported that the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP has come under increasing pressure to declare its position on the zoning system. More governors elected on the platform of the party are reportedly threatening to switch camps if the party leadership fails to show more commitment to zoning the presidential ticket to the southern region.

Governor David Umahi who is regarded as the best governor in Nigeria after his magic work in Abakaliki the Ebonyi State capital defected to APC from PDP few weeks ago because of his ambition to become the next President of Nigeria in 2023.
