Biafra political activist and leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, on Monday shared a video of men of the controversial Eastern Security Network (ESN) in training camp. In an update on his popular Facebook page, Nnamdi Kanu reiterated that the Eastern Security Network was created to protect the entire region of Southeast and South-South.
Here is a cadre of the main Akwa Ibom guard of Eastern Security Network” Nnamdi Kanu wrote.
“It is called Eastern Security Network (ESN) for a reason because every major ethnic nationality in the old Eastern Region and beyond is well-represented, both men and women.
“Eastern Security Network is not for the South East alone, it serves to protect the entire region of South East and South-South. As you can see the lugubriously named South-South is accounted for in the command structure of Eastern Security Network in terms of personnel and officer class.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force has described the Eastern Security Network as illegal, saying its operatives have yet to locate any Eastern Security Network official or camp in the South-East states. However, the police added that it would not relent in monitoring and nipping in the bud crimes and suspected criminals in the region and nationwide.
A top police spokesperson, who did not want his name to be published, gives more details on the issue when he was interviewed by Sahara Reporters on Saturday. According to his words;
“Has any of your reporters come across any Eastern Security Network official on the road, or in the street or anywhere in the South-East? The police have not found anyone. It is all propaganda and publicizing the propaganda will make them achieve their objective to seek popularity.
“The police are on the ground and are monitoring every development. But we have not found any Eastern Security Network official or camp anywhere.”
