Peter Osaze Odemwingie popularly known as Osaze Odemwingie is a famous Nigerian football player, investor, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. He has been described as a legend in the game of football and one of the greatest and most skillful football players of all time and also one of the most successful footballers in Africa.
He was born on 15th July 1981 in Tashkent, Uzbek, SSR, Soviet Union to a Nigerian father named Peter Odemwingie Sr. and a Russian mother named Raisa, both of whom were medical students. He is currently 37 years old.
Osaze Odemwingie grew up in Uzbekistan and Russia respectively, and began his career with Bendel Insurance in the Nigeria Premier League, where he scored 19 goals in 53 league appearances from 2000 to 2002. He has played as a forward striker for the Super Eagles of Nigeria national team and is currently playing for Indonesian league club “Madura United” in Indonesia.
Osaze Odemwingie moved with his family to Nigeria when he was just two years old before completing his secondary school education in Russia. While in Russia, he played in the youth teams at KAMAZ and CSKA Moscow. At the age of 17 years old, he moved back to Nigeria and after spending a short period of time with amateurs AS Racines in Lagos, he became a professional footballer with the Nigeria Premier League side “Bendel Insurance” where he scored 19 goals in 53 league appearances from 2000 to 2002.
Osaze Odemwingie then earned a move to European football with Belgian side “La Louviere” where he spent three seasons before moving to French side “Lille”. Osaze Odemwingie has scored over 26 goals for French club “Lille” which prompted and motivated Lokomotiv Moscow to pay a fee of £10 million for his services in July 2007. Osaze Odemwingie scored 23 times in three and a half years for Lokomotiv before moving to English premier league club side West Bromwich Albion in August 2010.
Osaze Odemwingie while in West Bromwich Albion scored 30 Premier League goals for the Baggies which won him three Premier League Player of the Month Awards. After having a failed move to Queens Park Rangers, Osaze Odemwingie was sold to Cardiff City in August 2013 for a fee of £2.25 million. He spent six months at Cardiff City before joining Stoke City in a player-exchange with Kenwyne Jones in January 2014.
Osaze Odemwingie made his debut for the Nigeria National team (Super Eagles) in 2002 and has represented the country 60 times, including two World Cups and four Africa Cup of Nations, as well as winning silver at the 2008 Olympics.
Osaze Odemwingie was born to a Nigerian father and a Russian mother. His middle name, Osaze means “God chooses for you”. On 26th May 2012, Osaze Odemwingie got married to his beautiful fiancée, Sarah Fallon at a church in Northampton after two years of dating and courtship. His marriage to Sarah Fallon is currently blessed with beautiful kids.
Osaze Odemwingie is currently one of the richest and most influential football player in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $6 million.
