Police Kill 3 And Arrest 7 Armed Robbery Suspects In Delta

The Police in Delta State have killed three suspected armed robbers in a gun battle, arrested seven at different locations in the state and recovered six locally made guns and cartridges. The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, who made this known in a statement, also disclosed the arrest of a 33 years old man who killed his one year old son for ritual purpose.

He explained in the statement that the suspected murderer and ritualist was arrested when on 25th June 2022, at about 1:30PM, one Mrs. Success Oduwa ‘female’ age 24yrs of Peanuts Junction, Obeh in Edo State, discovered that she has not seen their child since the morning of 24th June 2022 and started troubling the husband and asking him the whereabouts of their child.

“The husband told her that the child was with his sister in Warri but on getting to Warri, she stated that she discovered the husband was lying to her, hence her suspicion started increasing.

“She immediately reported the case to the Commander, Quick Response Squad, that she suspects her husband, Mr Volt Gabriel to have killed their child, named Godspower Gabriel (male) aged one year and eight months old for ritual purposes.

The Commander, Quick Response Squad detailed operatives who swung into action, arrested the husband and handed him over to the DPO ‘A’ Division Police Warri for further investigation. Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have murdered his child at Ewabogun bush by catholic road, Benin city using hand saw to cut off the head and buried it by a palm tree in the bush and threw away the headless body of the child.

The suspect also stated that he actually killed the child, because of a dream he had, where he saw a man who told him that, if he kills the child, and use the child’s blood to rub his head, he will become rich.

Also, on 24th June 2022 at about 4:00PM, Operatives of Dragon Patrol team while on stop and search duty along Eku-Abraka road in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, were informed by a lady (name withheld), that she sighted some armed robbers who robbed her in her POS shop on 29th May 2022.

“The team acted immediately and arrested the armed robbers whose names are Jeffrey ‘male’ age 36 of no. 28 Osazuwa Street, Benin City, Eddy Gabriel ‘male’ age 33 of no. 28 Osazuwa Street, Benin City, and Promise Imade ‘male’ age 31 of no. 14 Paris Street, Oghara both in Ethiope West Local Government Area of the state and recovered the following exhibits from them; one locally made gun, four live cartridges, one walkie – talkie set and four android phones suspected to have been stolen.

In another development, on 23/06/2022 at about 6:00PM, Dragon Patrol Team, while on stop and search at Oleh roundabout in Isoko South Local Government of the state, intercepted a tricycle conveying three passengers namely Friday Nosakhare ‘male’ age 23, Efe Pius ’male’ age 19 and Okwudili Okorie ‘male’ age 30, along refinery road in Warri. They were subjected to search which led to the recovery of one locally made cut-to-size gun and two live cartridges concealed under the seat of the tricycle.

The DPO, Ozoro also on 23rd June 2022 at about 5:00PM, acting on a distress call, that armed robbers were operating at Etereva Street, Ozoro in Isoko North Local Government Area of the state, mobilized and led a combined team of Police and vigilantes to the scene.

“On arrival, the hoodlums engaged the team in a shootout, during which one of the armed robbers sustained bullet injuries while the others escaped. One cut-to-size single barrel gun, two expended cartridges and one laptop were recovered from them. The injured suspect later gave up the ghost while receiving treatment at the hospital. Manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.

Similarly, on 23rd June 2022 at about 4:00 PM, acting on a distress call, that armed robbers were operating along Igbuku Road in Orogun Community, the DPO Orogun Division, SP. Obonoh Ndem, led a team of Police and vigilantes to the scene, engaged the armed robbers in a gun battle, during which two of the suspected armed robbers sustained bullet injuries, while one of the suspect, Benedict Agbawara ‘male’ age 22yrs of Abbi town was arrested. Three locally made cut-to-size guns, one live cartridge and one motorcycle were recovered. The Injured suspects were taken to the hospital where they later died while receiving treatment.
