Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has called for the immediate release of his colleague Chiwetalu Agu who was detained by the Nigerian Army in Anambra for allegedly soliciting support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra. Chiwetalu Agu was arrested yesterday in Anambra for wearing Biafra shirt. He was arrested by Nigerian soldiers and molested in front of everyone before he was forcefully taken away.
In a post via his official Instagram handle, Nollywood actor Emeka Ike called for the release of victims of conscience including embattled IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, as well as Yoruba Nation agitator Sunday Igboho and Nollywood veteran actor Chiwetalu Agu.
He wrote; “Release all victims of conscience immediately. Your belief is you. Your ideology is you. Tyranny never pays. Dialogue is golden. Release Sunday Igboho, release Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, release Chiwetalu Agu immediately. The world is watching and history never forgets.”
Chiwetalu Agu arrest caused public outcry after a video of him being taken away by men of the Nigerian Army went viral on social media. As of the time of this publication, reports reaching us states that the veteran Nollywood actor was still being questioned and yet to be released by the Nigerian army.
