Aside from acting he is also a politician. In 2011, he was appointed as the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism in Delta State, Nigeria by the former Delta State Governor.

He was born on 6th July 1961 in Aladja community of Udu Kingdom in Warri, Delta State in the south southern part of Nigeria. He is currently 58 years old. During his secondary school days, Richard Mofe Damijo also known as RMD was actively involved in drama and performing arts. He was an active member of a Drama Club in his secondary school days.

After completing his secondary school education, Richard Mofe Damijo also known as RMD proceeded to University of Benin in Edo State in the south southern part of Nigeria and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts. After obtaining his first degree in Theatre Arts from the University of Benin in 1997, Richard Mofe Damijo also known as RMD went further to University of Lagos to study Law and later graduated in 2004 with a Masters Degree in International Law and Diplomacy. After which he went for his Law School in Abuja and was called to bar as a legal practitioner. But he refused to practice law and rather decided to pursue acting as a professional career.

After completing his tertiary education, Richard Mofe Damijo also known as RMD first worked as a famous Nigerian journalist and was popularly known as MEE. Out of passion, he later quit the media job and joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood professionally and acted in his first television soap opera titled “Ripples” in 1996. The film became very popular and skyrocket him to prominence. The movie “Ripples” won him an award for Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.

In 1996, Richard Mofe Damijo also known as RMD got married to his long time girlfriend Mary Ellen Ezekiel. The marriage later ended up after the death of his lovely wife Mary Ellen Ezekiel. In 2000, Richard Mofe Damijo also known as RMD got married again to Jumobi Adegbesan and the marriage is currently blessed with beautiful children.
