Joseph Junior Adenuga popularly known by his stage name as Skepta is a famous Nigerian/British English grime artist, rapper, songwriter, record producer and music video director from Tottenham, North London. He was born on 19th September 1982 in Tottenham, North London, United Kingdom to Nigerian parents. He is currently 36 years old. He is very handsome, gifted, skillful, creative and talented.

Skepta was born in Tottenham, North London, United Kingdom to immigrant parents from Nigeria. He is the eldest of four siblings. He grew up with his siblings on Meridian Walk Estate, a council estate in Tottenham, North London in the United Kingdom.

Skepta began raping shortly before Meridian Crew disbanded in 2005, after which Skepta, alongside his brother Jme joined Roll Deep for a short period of time before becoming founding members of the group “Boy Better Know” in 2006. Following the formation of the group “Boy Better Know” Skepta clashed with his fellow MC and grime legend Devilman for the DVD Lord of the Mics 2, in what is remembered as one of the biggest clashes in grime history.

Shortly after the clash, Skepta released a mixtape entitled “Joseph Junior Adenuga”. In 2007, he released his debut studio album “Greatest Hits” and his second debut studio album “Microphone Champion” was released in 2009. While his third debut studio album “Doin’ It Again” was released in 2011 by AATW.

His fourth debut studio album “Konnichiwa” was released on 6th May 2016 to critical acclaim, winning that year’s Mercury Prize. Skepta’s younger brother and label mate of “Boy Better Know” crew, Jme is a well-known grime artist. They have collaborated many times, most recently on his album “Konnichiwa”. Skepta is also the brother of Beats 1 DJ Julie Adenuga.

During an interview, Skepta stated that ‘DIY’ music is the future and told Time Out magazine. According to his words;

“I am not a rapper. I am an activist.”

His influence on contemporary British popular culture as a key figure in the grime scene saw him appear on Debrett’s 2017 list of the most influential people in the United Kingdom.

In 2014, he won Best Video at MOBO Awards. In 2015, he won Best Song at MOBO Awards. In 2016, he won Album of the Year at the Mercury Prize and Best International Act at BET Awards. In 2016, he won British Male Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards and Best International Act at BET Awards.

On 4th April 2018, he was installed as a chief in his Nigerian hometown in Ogun State bearing the chieftaincy title of Amuludun of Odo-Aje. On 31st July 2018, Skepta revealed he was going to become a father for the first time, via his official Instagram account and posted a picture of an ultrasound scan.

Skepta is currently one of the richest and most influential artist in Nigeria and United Kingdom with an estimated net worth of $2 million.
