A happy moment has turned tragic as a new couple who just got married had an accident on their way to Abuja. The groom, Jamilu Abdulhamid died while his bride is critically injured and currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Abuja. Abdulhamid and his wife, Saratu Abdul Salisu got married on Sunday, 11th July 2021 in Kano State and were involved in a road accident along the Kaduna-Abuja highway on Tuesday, 13 July 2021.
The groom’s friend, Kabiru Garba, who confirmed the incident, said the couple left Kano for Abuja with a plan to head to Benin Republic where they were supposed to settle down.
According to his words; “We lost Jamilu in a ghastly car accident on their way to Abuja. The couple just got married last Sunday and left Kano for Abuja in their plan to settle in their matrimonial home in Benin Republic. I had my last chat with Saratu yesterday where I was re-congratulating her on her marriage. Saratu is currently in a hospital in Abuja receiving medical attention,” Garba said on Facebook.
Meanwhile, photos posted by the deceased during the last Eid celebration indicated he was also married to another woman and they have children together. “Celebration is incomplete without family. Happy Eid to my lovely wife.” he captioned the photos.
Also in similar news, a groom identified as Adewale Adekunle Isaac and four other passengers were killed after an 18-seater bus plunged into Owena River in Aponmu village, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo state on Sunday, 18th April 2021. Adewale was said to be returning to Akure with his wife after their wedding at the Ikoyi Registry on Saturday, 19th April 2021. Their church wedding was set to hold on Saturday, 24th April 2021. The bride was said to have been seriously injured in the accident.
Great Ogboru, who was supposed to be Adewale’s best man at the wedding said he lost a confidant.
According to his words; “I am supposed to be his best man for the wedding…I lost a confidant and supporter today. This wound is forever. Rest on brother.” he wrote.
Ayegbo Oladimeji Adeoye also wrote; “Good night my brother, Supervisor Airline field services, Landover Aviation. I don’t know that you are the one shown at 7PM news television in a motor accident in Ondo road (Aponmu) while coming from Lagos. And your wedding is on Saturday in Ile Ife. Just discovered my mood changes in the church, and I could not wait for 2nd service, not knowing that you have died at that hour. Good night my brother. Where do I put the engagement Rice I bought for you? Good night”
Also similar to day’s news, a Nigerian man identified as John Abugu was reportedly knocked down dead by a vehicle on his wedding day in Nasarawa state. The said incident happened in the Ikyangedu community, Keana Local Government area of the state.
The would-be bride, Miss Rosemary Hudu, an entrepreneur, has been inconsolable over the tragic incident as she battles to come to terms with the reality of the death of her heartthrob less than two hours before going to the altar for their marital vows.
Rosemary and her would-be husband, John Abugu, appeared to have everything under wraps until tragedy struck as Abugu was returning from the dry cleaner’s shop where he had gone with his friend on a motorcycle to collect the suit he would wear for the wedding scheduled to hold at the Baptist Church in the community.
Less than two hours before the commencement of the wedding ceremony, Abugu decided to use his motorcycle to pick up his wedding suit at the shop of a nearby dry cleaner only to be knocked down by a vehicle. He was said to have sustained minor injuries and was rushed to the hospital where he died in the course of treatment.
