Stella Damasus is a famous Nollywood actress, producer, singer, television personality and a model. She was born on 24th April 1978 in Benin City, Edo State in the south southern part of Nigeria. She is currently 39 years old. Stella Damasus has four sisters. She grew up in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria where she completed her primary school education and obtained her First School Leaving Certificate.Â
At the age of 13 years old, Stella Damasus moved to Asaba in Delta State, Nigeria with her family where she finished her secondary school education and obtained her West African Senior School Certificate. After completing her secondary school education in Asaba, Stella Damasus proceeded to University of Lagos and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts.
She started her career as a singer in Lagos, Nigeria where she used to work as a studio session singer at the famous Klink Studio owned by filmmaker Kingsley Ogoro. While in Klink studio she developed her skill as a singer and went on to do vocals for top jingles on radio and television commercials in Nigeria at that time.
In 1992, Stella Damasus joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and made her first appearance in the Nigerian film “Abused”. She rose to fame after starring in the Nollywood blockbuster movie “Breaking Point”. The movie was produced by Emem Isong and directed by Francis Agu. The movie brought her to limelight and made her a household name in Nigeria. The movie also won her an award for Best Actress in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards.
Stella Damasus has acted in more than 200 Nollywood movies which include Affairs of the Heart, The Intruder, Emotional Pain, Dangerous Desire, Bad Boys, The Messenger, After the Fight, Missing Angel, Kings Pride, Engagement Night, Above Love, Burning Desire, Cinderella, Dangerous Twins, Wheel of Change etc.
In 2007, Stella Damasus won the Award for Best Actress in Nigeria at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. In 2009, Stella Damasus was nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. In 2012, Stella Damasus won the award for Best Actress for the movie “Two Birds and a Baby” at the Golden Icons Academy Awards in Houston, Texas, United States of America.
In 1999, Stella Damasus got married her first husband, Jaiye Aboderin. The couple had two daughters before her husband Jaiye Aboderin died suddenly in 2005. Stella Damasus remarried in 2007, this time to Emeka Nzeribe. The marriage lasted for seven months and ended up in a divorce due to misunderstanding that could not be resolved.
In 2011, Stella Damasus started a relationship with Nollywood multiple award-winning producer and director Daniel Ademinokan and later got married to him. The couple have been together ever since. Their relationship sparked a lot of controversy all over Nigeria and Africa because both parties never publicly admitted to be dating, engaged or even married until 2014.
Stella Damasus is currently one of the richest and most influential actress in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $900,000.
