Stephanie Onyekachi Okereke Linus popularly known as Stephanie Okereke is a famous Nollywood actress, model, film director, producer, television personality and a philanthropist. She has been regarded as one of the best outspoken actress in Nollywood and also one of the highest paid actress in Nigeria.

She is always known for featuring in romantic, sorrowful and action thriller movies. She has been in the industry for over 2 decades. She always plays the role of a president daughter, royal princess, palace maid, an independent corporate young lady, romantic house wife, girlfriend and a self determined young lady in several Nollywood movies.

She was born on 2nd October 1982 in Ngor Okpala, a small town in Imo State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. She is currently 37 years old. She is the sixth child in a family of eight children. Her father’s name is Chima Okereke while her mother’s name is Mary Okereke. She started acting at a very tender age. She is very beautiful, gifted, skillful, creative and talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles. She knows how to interpret her roles very well and can fit in any character given to her by movie directors and producers in Nigeria.

As a kid Stephanie Okereke dream was to become an actress. She completed her primary and secondary school education in Asaba, Delta State in the south southern part of Nigeria and obtained both her First School Leaving Certificate and West Africa Senior School Certificate. While still in secondary school she was actively involved in drama, stage play and performing arts. After completing her primary and secondary school education, Stephanie Okereke proceeded to University of Calabar in Cross River State in the south southern part of Nigeria and graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in English and Literary Studies.

While still in the University of Calabar as an undergraduate Stephanie Okereke began auditioning for acting jobs in Nollywood movies. In 1997, Stephanie Okereke joined the Nigerian movie industry popularly known as Nollywood professionally and acted in her first movies “Compromise” and “Waterloo”. The two movies where so popular in Nigeria and skyrocket her to prominence. Her role in the movie “Compromise” and “Waterloo” earned her an award for Most Promising Actress in Nigeria and Best New Actress to Watch Out For at the Africa Movie Academy Awards and Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Stephanie Okereke started out her career as a model before joining the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood). In 2002, she emerged as first runner up at the 2002 Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria (MBGN) beauty pageant hosted by Silver Bird Television. In 2003, she received two nominations and also won the “Best Actress in English” and “Best Actress of the Year” at Reel Awards. She is currently listed by many media outlet as one of the richest actress in Nigeria. Her movies are in high demand and she perform her role very well to the delight of her loving fans.

In 2006, Stephanie Okereke starred in an action thriller movie titled “More Than A Woman” alongside with Saint Obi. The film was however regarded as Nollywood best produce movie of all time. The Movie “More Than a Woman” earned her an award for Best Actress in Nigeria at the Africa Movie Academy Awards. Stephanie Okereke has been regarded as one of the most beautiful actresses in Nigeria and also one of the highest paid actresses in Nigeria by different media outlets in Nigeria. She is one of the leading actresses in Nollywood who has contributed immensely to the growth of Nollywood in Nigeria and rest of the world.

In 2014, Stephanie Okereke release her second movie titled “Dry” and again served as a director, scriptwriter, producer, and actress in the movie. In April 2005, on her way to the Africa Movie Academy Awards held in Yenagoa, the capital city of Bayelsa State in the south southern part of Nigeria, Stephanie Okereke was involved in a serious car accident and was hospitalized for several months. In 2007, Stephanie Okereke released her first movie “Through the Glass” in which she served as director, scriptwriter, producer and actress. The film “Through the Glass” received an African Movie Academy Awards nomination for Best Screenplay in 2009.

In 2011, Stephanie Okereke was honored by the Nigerian government with a National honor of Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR) which happens to be the highest award given to a celebrity in Nigeria who has contributed immensely to the economy growth of the country through entertainment. Stephanie Okereke has also won the overall Best Movie with the prize of a brand new car. Stephanie Okereke is currently married with lovely kids. In April 2012, she got married to Linus Idahosa in Paris the capital city of France and the marriage is blessed with beautiful kids.
