Unknown Gunmen Set Police Station And Vehicles Ablaze In Anambra

Unknown gunmen attacked and set a police station and vehicles ablaze in Anaku in Ayamelum Local Government Area of Anambra State in the south eastern part of Nigeria. The hoodlums hours after killing seven persons on Sunday in Anambra, killed another four in two other locations in Ogbunike, Oyi Local Government Area of the state.

According our reliable source, it was reported that seven persons were killed in various communities across the state by unknown gunmen including a mother and four siblings. According to The Nation, the gunmen invaded a cow market in Ogbunike.

One other person was killed in Peter Obi’s Agulu community in Anaocha Local Government Area of the stae, where a patrol van was also set ablaze. The State Police spokesman, Ikenga Tochukwu, declined to comment on the incidents. But another police source confirmed the Anaku incident.

Special Adviser to former chairman of Nnewi South Local Government Area of Anambra State, Hon. Uzozie Chukwujekwu has been allegedly abducted by gunmen. The community has been under siege for some time now, with the local government secretariat burnt down earlier this week.

The hoodlums reportedly stormed the Umudiji Umuohama village in their numbers in the early hours of Saturday. Hon. Uzozie Chukwujekwu was said to have been abducted from his house while his only son was shot on the stomach.
