Olanrewaju David Ogunmefun popularly known by his stage name as Vector is a famous Nigerian hip hop rapper, songwriter, stage performer and a recording artist. He was born on 7th August 1985 in Ogun State in the south western part of Nigeria. He is currently 33 years old. He is very handsome, gifted, skillful, creative and talented.
Vector was born in Ogun State but was raised in MaCarthy Barracks at Onikan, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is the fourth child in a family of five children. He attended Command Children School and Ijebu Ode Grammar School and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate.
After completing his primary school education, Vector attended Government College and Saint Gregory’s College both Victoria Island, Lagos State, Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. He started his journey into the hip hop world in 1994 while still in junior high school and started rapping and free-styling.
While in St. Gregory’s College in Victoria Island, he was involved in various social activities in which he was made to perform from the stage. In 1999, he formed a duo called Badder Boiz, as a group of three, consisting of Vector, Krystal and Blaze. They were together until 2004 when Krystal left due to irreconcilable differences. After completing his primary and secondary school education, Vector attended University of Lagos and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy.
After completing his university education, Vector started his music career professionally in 2008. Vector is officially signed to YSG Entertainment. In February 2010, he released his first official single “Kilode”. He later released the video for “Kilode” in June 2010. In April 2010, his second official single “Mary Jane” was released.
In June 2011, he released a video for the song “Get Down” which he featured 2Face Idibia. In 2010, he was nominated for Best Collaboration with Vocals at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards. for the hit track “Champion” in which he was featured in by General Pype.
His hit singles “Angeli” which he featured 9ice and “Mr. Vector” which he featured Jazzy, where both produced by Sagzy and released on 19th May 2011. The singles were on heavy rotation on radio stations around the country. The video for “Angeli” was released in October 2011.
On 15th July 2012, he released a fresh single titled “Kanawan Dabo” and on 24th July 2012, he released a freestyle titled “8”. Vector has released three studio albums which include State of Surprise, The Second Coming and Lafiaji.
Vector in the cause of his career as a hip hop rapper has won several awards which include Best Rap Single at the Headies Awards, Lyricist On The Roll at the Headies Awards, Best Afro Hip-Hop at the Nigerian Music Video Awards, Best Rap Act at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards, Most Promising Act To Watch at the Nigerian Entertainment Awards, Best New Act at the Dynamix Youth Awards and Best Mainstream Hip-Hop Video at the Nigerian Music Video Awards.
Vector is currently one of the richest and most influential artist and hip hop rapper in Nigeria with an estimated net worth of $2.5 million.
