Wayne Mark Rooney popularly known as Wayne Rooney is a famous English football player, athlete and a professional footballer. He currently plays for his country England national team and English Premier League club Everton as a forward striker. He was a former star player and forward striker for English Premier League club Manchester United.
He was born on 24th October 1985 in Croxteth, Liverpool in the United Kingdom. He is currently 32 years old. His father’s name is Thomas Wayne Rooney while his mother’s name is Jeanette Marie. Wayne Rooney is from Irish descent and was brought up as a Roman Catholic with his younger brothers Graham and John.
Wayne Rooney and his two siblings attended Our Lady & St Swithin’s Primary School and De La Salle Academy in Liverpool, United Kingdom. He grew up supporting Everton. Wayne Rooney currently plays for English Premier League club Everton and England national team as a forward striker.
Wayne Rooney has the record for highest goal scorer for the England national team and for Manchester United. At club level, he has won every honor available in English, European and Continental football, with the exception of the European Super Cup.
Along with Michael Carrick, Wayne Rooney is the only English player to win the Premier League, FA Cup, UEFA, Champions League, League Cup, UEFA Europa League and FIFA Club World Cup.
Wayne Rooney joined the Everton youth team at the age of 9 years old, and made his professional debut for the club in 2002 at the age of 16 years old. He spent two seasons at the Merseyside club, before moving to Manchester United in 2004 for a transfer worth £25.6 million.
Wayne Rooney has won 16 trophies with Manchester United, including five Premier League titles, the FA Cup and the Champions League in 2008. Wayne Rooney has scored a total of 253 goals for Manchester United in all competitions to make him their top goal scorer of all time, with 183 Premier League goals being the most scored by a player for any single club.
Wayne Rooney’s 208 Premier League goals made him the Premier League’s second top goal scorer of all time after Alan Shearer. Wayne Rooney also has the third-highest number of assists in the Premier League, with 103 assists which subsequently led to a goal.
In February 2003, Wayne Rooney made his senior international debut for England at the age of 17 years old, becoming the youngest player to represent England, a record which was later broken by Theo Walcott. At the age of 17 years old, Wayne Rooney became England’s youngest ever goal scorer.
He played at the UEFA Euro in 2004 and scored four goals, making him the youngest goal scorer in the history of European Championship. Wayne Rooney has since featured at the 2006, 2010, and 2014 World Cups respectively and was widely regarded as his country’s best player in the tournament.
He has won the England Player of the Year award four times, in 2008, 2009, 2014 and 2015 respectively. With over 53 goals in 119 international caps, Wayne Rooney is regarded as England’s all-time record best goal scorer and second most-capped player, after Peter Shilton.
Along with David Beckham, Wayne Rooney is an England player with the highest issued of red card, having been sent off the pitch twice. In 2009 and 2010, Wayne Rooney was awarded the PFA Player of the Year. He has also won the Premier League Player of the Month award five times, a record he held alongside with Steven Gerrard.
In 2011, Wayne Rooney came fifth in the vote for the 2011 FIFA Ballon d’Or and was named in the FIFPro World 11 for 2011. Wayne Rooney has won the Goal of the Season Award by BBC Match of the Day poll on three occasions, with his bicycle kick against rivals Manchester City, winning the Premier League Goal of the 20 Seasons Awards.
In 2008, Wayne Rooney got married to Coleen Rooney and the couples are blessed with three children namely Kit Joseph Rooney, Kai Wayne Rooney and Klay Anthony Rooney.
Wayne Rooney is currently one of the richest and most influential footballer in the world with an estimated net worth of $190 million.
