Williams Shakespeare Biography and Life History

William Shakespeare is a famous English poet, playwright and actor. He is widely regarded as the greatest writer in the English language and Literature and also the world’s pre-eminent dramatist. He is often called England’s national poet and the “Bard of Avon”. He was born on 26th April 1564 in Avon, Warwickshire, England and died at the age of 52 years old on 23rd April 1616 in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England.

In 1582, he got married to his beautiful wife Anne Hathaway and the marriage was blessed with three lovely children namely Hamnet Shakespeare, Susanna Hall and Judith Quiney. His extant works, including collaborations consist of approximately 39 plays, 154 sonnets, two long narrative poems and a few other verses. His plays have been translated into every major living language and are performed more often than those of any other playwright in the world.

Williams Shakespeare has been regarded as the greatest playwright and poet that can never be forgotten in history. He was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire, England. At the age of 18 years old, he got married to married Anne Hathaway, who was 26 years old and with whom he had three children with namely; Susanna, Hamnet and Judith.

Between 1585 and 1592, Williams Shakespeare began a successful career in London as an actor, writer and the owner of a playing company called the “Lord Chamberlain’s Men” later known as the “King’s Men”. Williams Shakespeare has been regarded as the King of Literature and also the founding father of Literature, been the first playwright and poet to emerge on the planet.

In 1613, at the age of 49 years old, Williams Shakespeare appears to have retired to Stratford, where he died three years later. Before his death, he published historical books like Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeths. He also published several sonnets and poems before his death. One of his most popular poems is “Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer Day”.

Williams Shakespeare produced most of his known works between 1589 and 1613. His early plays were primarily comedies and histories. His works are regarded as some of the best work ever produced in these genres of Literature. Between 1608, he wrote mainly tragedies and historical plays which include Hamlet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth, all considered to be among the finest works in the English language and Literature.

In the last phase of his life, Williams Shakespeare wrote tragic-comedies and romantic stories and also collaborated with other playwrights. Many of his plays were published in editions of varying quality and accuracy in his lifetime. However, in 1623, two fellow actors and friends of William Shakespeare namely; John Heminges and Henry Condell published a more definitive text known as the “First Folio” a posthumous collected edition of Williams Shakespeare’s dramatic works that included all but two of the plays now recognized as his own.

Throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, Williams Shakespeare’s works have been continually adapted and rediscovered by new movements in scholarship and performance. His plays remain highly popular and are constantly studied, performed, and reinterpreted in diverse cultural and political contexts all over the world.
