Yemi Osinbajo Biography and Net Worth

Oluyemi Oluleke Osinbajo popularly known as Yemi Osinbajo is a famous Nigerian politician, lawyer, investor, entrepreneur, humanitarian and a philanthropist who currently served as the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He was born on 8th March 1957 in Creek Hospital, Lagos State in the south western part of Nigeria, to Mr. and Mrs. Opeoluwa Osinbajo. He is currently 61 years old.

He was sworn in as Nigerian Vice President since 29th May 2015 alongside with Muhammadu Buhari, who was sworn in as Nigerian President. He is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, a professor of Law and was a Senior Partner with Simmons Cooper Partners, a commercial law practice firm until his inauguration as Nigerian Vice President on 29th May 2015. He is currently the most highly educated personality to emerge as Nigerian Vice President.

Yemi Osinbajo is currently married to Dolapo Osinbajo, who is the granddaughter of Chief Obafemi Awolowo. His marriage with Dolapo is currently blessed with three lovely children, comprising of two daughters namely Kiki Osinbajo and Kanyinsola Osinbajo and a son named Fiyinfoluwa Osibanjo.

Yemi Osinbajo completed his primary school education at Corona Primary School in Lagos, Nigeria, and obtained his First School Leaving Certificate in 1975. After completing his primary school education, Yemi Osinbajo proceeded to Igbobi College in Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria and obtained his West African Senior School Certificate. While in Igbobi College, he was the winner of the State Merit Award in 1971.

He also won the School Prize for English Oratory in1972 and also won the Adeoba Prize for English Oratory in 1972 to 75. He also won the Elias Prize for Best Performance in History in the 1973 West African Senior School Certificate. He also won the School Prize for Literature in 1975 and African Statesman Intercollegiate Best Speaker’s Prize in 1974.

After completing his secondary school education, Yemi Osinbajo proceeded to University of Lagos and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law with a Second Class Upper Division in 1978. While in the University of Lagos, he also won the Graham-Douglas Prize for Commercial Law.

In 1979, he completed the mandatory one-year professional training at the Nigerian Law School and was admitted to practice as a Barrister and Solicitor at the Nigeria’s Supreme Court. In 1980, he attended the London School of Economics and Political Science, where he obtained a Masters Degree in Law.

From 1980, Yemi Osinbajo completed the compulsory one year national youth service, where he served as a legal officer with Bendel Development and Planning Authority, in the old Bendel State, which is currently, the present Edo State, in the south southern part of Nigeria.

Yemi Osinbajo began lecturing as a junior lecturer in the Faculty of Law, at the University of Lagos, at the age of 23 years old. In 1981, he was gainfully employed as a junior lecturer in the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. From 1983 to 1986, he was promoted to senior lecturer in the Faculty of Law, at the University of Lagos. From 1988 to 1992, he was appointed as the Legal Adviser to the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Bola Ajibola.

In1997, Yemi Osinbajo was made a Professor of Law and Head of Department of Public Law in the Faculty of Law at the University of Lagos. From 1999 to 2007, Yemi Osinbajo was appointed as the Member of Cabinet of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, also known as Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice.

In 2007, Yemi Osinbajo was made Senior Partner at Simmons Cooper Partners, a Barristers and Solicitors firm in Lagos, Nigeria. Yemi Osinbajo was also the Pastor in charge of the Lagos Province 48 of The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria before his inauguration into office, as the Vice President of Nigeria on 29th May 2015. However, during an interview, he insists that he still remains the pastor-in-charge of Lagos Province 48, of The Redeemed Christian Church of God in Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria, and that he is only on loan to the Federal Government of Nigeria and will go back to his pastoral ministration after completing his tenure as Nigerian Vice President.

In 2013, Yemi Osinbajo joined the All Progressive Congress (APC) after it was newly formed and was active in the campaign for the promotion of the party. On 17th December 2014, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, General Muhammadu Buhari announced Yemi Osinbajo as his running mate and vice-presidential candidate for the 2015 general elections in Nigeria.

On 31st March 2015, Muhammadu Buhari and Yemi Osinbajo were confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the 2015 presidential elections. On 29th May 2015, Yemi Osinbajo was sworn in as the Vice President of Nigeria alongside with Muhammadu Buhari, who was sworn in as the President of Nigeria.
